An innovative eye surgeon, a researcher and inventor, a laser physicist, a teacher, a champion ballroom dancer, a musician and a composer, an entrepreneur and businessman, a community leader and a philanthropist, Ming Wang, MD, PhD is the epitome of a modern-day Renaissance man.
Dr. Wang is a Harvard and MIT graduate (MD, magna cum laude) and is one of the few cataract and LASIK surgeons in the world today with a doctorate degree in laser physics. He has performed over 55,000 cataract and LASIK procedures (including over 4,000 on doctors), has published a paper in the world renowned journal Nature and six textbooks in the cataract and LASIK field, and holds several U.S. patents for inventions of new biotechnologies to restore sight. Dr. Wang performed the world’s first laser-assisted artificial corneal implantation and is a designated LASIK surgeon for ABC’s national reality TV show “Extreme Makeover”.
Dr. Wang is currently the only surgeon in the state who performs 3D LASIK (18-60 yo), 3D Forever Young Lens surgery (45-65 yo) and 3D laser cataract surgery (60+ yo). He is one of the few surgeons in the U.S. selected to conduct an FDA clinical trial for a new groundbreaking eye surgery to treat age-related loss of near vision (presbyopia). Wang Vision is currently the ONLY center in TN that offers LASER cataract surgery and 3D image-guided high-definition LASIK. Dr. Wang founded a 501(c)(3) non-profit foundation which to date has helped patients from over 40 states in the U.S. and 55 countries, with all sight restoration surgeries performed free-of-charge.
Dr. Wang is also the founding president of the Tennessee Chinese Chamber of Commerce, which has helped Tennessee to become the state with the fastest growth rate of export to China. Dr. Wang is a co-owner and international president of Shanghai Aier Eye Hospital, the largest private eye hospital group in China today.
As an avid ballroom dancer and Chinese violin er-hu player, Dr. Wang was a finalist, in pro-am open international 10-dance, at the U.S. National Ballroom Championship.
In this unique lecture, Dr. Wang will describe his pearls of preparing for MCAT exam (he scored all 15s in all science subjects and taught at Stanley Kaplan Center for 10 years). He will share his top 15 pearls of doing “Shi Ban Gong Bei”, an ancient Chinese phrase about accomplishing more in less time. By combining Eastern influence and Western cultures, Dr. Wang will demonstrate the philosophy and approach of prioritizing and efficiently utilizing one of the most precious assets in our lives, time. Dr. Wang will show, step-by-step, how to distill the best from both Eastern and Western cultures and how to create a personalized and optimal approach to accomplishing more in multiple areas of life within the same time span as everyone else. Many of the pearls are directly applicable to the study for MCAT and Dr. Wang will give examples of these.
Dr. Wang will demonstrate the following 15 techniques of Shi Ban Gong Bei.
Overall, these valuable and personal pearls will enable you to essentially "create" new hours in your day, accomplish more in less time, and truly enjoy what you do! You can score high in exams like MCAT and CAN in fact CREATE more time in your life and Dr. Wang will show you how!
